Composed by four research groups from UVa (GOA, ERICA, MathPhys and BIOFORGE), LaDIS unit serves as a pioneering hub that brings together leading experts from diverse fields—Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Cosmology, Planetary Science, Quantum Physics, and Earth and Climate Sciences. Although these disciplines have traditionally developed in isolation, they share fundamental challenges that present rich opportunities for cross-disciplinary breakthroughs. LaDIS fosters collaboration to bridge these gaps, drive cutting-edge research, and spark innovative solutions with broad scientific impact.
Recently, LaDIS was awarded the prestigious “Escalera de Excelencia” grant by the Junta de Castilla y León and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)—a distinction reserved for the region’s top research units—highlighting the outstanding quality of the work conducted by the unit.
